Max (formerly Stanley)

Rescued March 11, 2011 -  Adopted March 13, 2011

Update Received - May 2, 2011

Hello All!!! I thought you might want to see a few pictures of Max (formerly Stanley). He is doing great in his new home. From the first day I brought him home, it was like he had been with us for years. He is such a great dog and loves to follow me where ever I go, even if other people are around in the house.  He is very mellow and laid back and astute when he needs to be. He loves his daily walks but is also content just laying next to me.  My other dog is still trying to get use to him but Max has learned to leave him alone and let Musky make the first move. I recently had family in town and everyone fell in LOVE with him. They were surprised by how big he was but yet how gentle he was as well.  I can totally understand how hard it must have been for his foster family to let him go. He is so sweet and only wants to be loved. My daughter absolutely adores him and I know Max adores her as well. Thanks for all the hard work you all do and I look forward to my next adotption with you all.

Belle (formerly Star2)

Rescued April 23, 2011 - Adopted April 30, 2011

Update Received: May 3, 2011

Hi Rocky Mountain Lab Rescue world!

Jeff and I picked up Star2 Saturday morning and after a few hours of "getting to know each other", Cooper (Also a RMLR Rescue Dog) and Belle (her new name) are doing great - she is VERY attached to her big brother already and starting to learn how to lay-down and stay.  We will send more pictures when we get to Oklahoma - thanks again for all you do!

I've sent a few pictures of Cooper and Belle - one is them chilling out in the living room and the other is them sleeping next to their dad in the living room...

Murphy (formerly Austin)

Rescued March 19, 2011 - Adopted March 21, 2011

Update Received: May 3, 2011

Dear our friends at RMLR,

I just wanted to let you know that Austin NKA Murphy is doing quite well. He is gaining weight and settling in to our family quite well. He loves playing outside with our son and playing tea party with our daughter. He and I go for a run every day during the week; he loves the dog park! He is a star pupil in obedience school. His ear infection has cleared up although the vet believes he has permanent ear damage. It is hard to imagine how someone could have let this amazingly kind and gentle dog go! He's a wonderful addition to our family!

Thank you for your good work!

Bodhi (formerly Carter)

Rescued April 23, 2011 - Adopted May 1, 2011

Update Received: May 5, 2011

I wanted to give you an update on Carter.

Bodhi, aka Carter, may have had several names in his short life but seems to like the new one just fine. He comes when he's called, sits, we're working on stay, shake and laydown. He starts puppy school on Saturday so should pick those things up in no time! He is settling in to our family very nicely. He loves to play in the backyard, run after a tennis ball or two, play with his new brother and just shower us all with love. He is so gentle with the girls, his new human sisters. He follows them around and is very curious to see what they will do next. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect fit!

Thank you for doing what you do.

Daisy (formerly Cricket)

Rescued March 31, 2011 - Adopted April 3, 2011

Update Received: May 15, 2011

Hello! I just wanted to send you an update on Daisy (formerly Cricket).... She is amazing!!! I can't believe I was so lucky to find her... or for her to find me! We've settled into a nice routine - she loves going to doggy daycare a couple days a week, goes on morning runs with me, and LOVES to cuddle. If only we could rid the world of squirrels, life would be grand. Squirrels are her nemesis and she will stalk every tree she's ever seen a squirrel on during our walks. Our training classes are going well, and while we still have some challenges on the leash, she's doing a great job with her stays & recalls, and is learning roll-over this week. I can't thank you enough for bringing Daisy into my life! Here are a few photos, you can see for yourself she's a happy girl! :)

Thanks again,

Erin

Luca (formerly Darius)

Rescued January 20, 2011 - Adopted February 21, 2011

Update Received: May 16, 2011

Hi there!
We're Scott and Kim Woods, and we want to follow up about our adoption. February 21st we brought home Darious AKA Franklin, although he he now known as Luca! We can't begin to tell you how much of an added blessing he has been to our house.
When we brought him home he was 25-30 lbs now only three months later he is pushing 55-60 lbs.  When we met with Anne his foster mom, she warned us of his fascination with feet and socks, I am happy to report he still has the same fascination with both!
We also have two cats in our home, which he gets along with just fine, though he gets along with our boy cat quite a bit more than our female cat. Kim's parent's have a  six year old100 lb Huskie and Luca loves having play dates with Jordan (the Huskie) and I will say Luca is starting to hold his own as they play and wrestle!  Luca also loves going to Doggie Day Care at City Bark,  he goes once or twice a week and as we check in on their web-cam's he is always having a blast whether he is playing in the pool or running around with the other dogs, or both!
I will say though my favorite activity I have discovered with Luca is taking him down to Chatfield Dog Park. He has absolutely no fear, I threw the ball into the creek and he goes running in after it with out missing a beat.  He is a little nervous when it comes to those ponds though,  he likes his feet to be able to touch the bottom (so far)!
Luca does great with kids, though he still gets a little to excited, and can knock young ones over as he runs up to them, so we're working on that. We're also working on jumping, as he likes to jump on everyone he meets, but he is getting better day by day.
All in all Luca is a great dog and he fills our lives with excitement and joy everyday, and yes a little frustration too as just today he has discovered Kim's high heels, but we couldn't have asked for a better dog. We are so thankful for the rescue and for Luca, we wanted to make it to the 5k but I got scheduled to work, so hopefully we can bring him around for the next event you have.

I hope all is well with everyone at the rescue, and again Thank You for all you do with all of the dogs, not just Luca!

Salem (formerly Tater)

Rescued August 10, 2010 - Fostered-to-Adopt

Update received: May 22, 2011

I wanted to give you an update on Salem (formerly Tator) since it’s been almost a year since we adopted her.
The short story is that Salem is doing great! She was pretty shy, jumpy and not so sure about new things (like the hair dryer) when she first got here but over the last 10months she has really become comfortable and at home.  She now lays on the dog-bed in the bathroom while I dry my hair and she absolutely loves to sleep on the guest bed while we watch tv downstairs, especially if I turn on the electric blanket =) She is still afraid of the vacuum and seems amazed when it doesn’t suck any of the other dogs up.

She sleeps at night either on the bed or on a dog bed in the bedroom (it all depends on which dog gets which spot first).  She gets breakfast and about 2 hours of playtime in the morning before we head to work and when I grab my keys everyone goes to their crate (they’re so good at their routine) and they nap while we work. When I get home, weather permitting, I prop the front door open and they run in and out all afternoon until dinner time which Salem reminds me of every night ;) She eats with Yuna (our oldest) in the bedroom on an elevated bowl holder and after I add water to her food she hops and squeaks all the way to the bedroom (its very cute!)

We’ve also started calling her “goof” as a nickname because she is just so goofy! She often puts her head down on the ground and puts her butt and wiggles, it cracks us up. She’s learning to enjoy playing Frisbee this spring, mainly the running after it then running around and not bringing it back, lol. She’s an absolute sweetie and we just adore her. After a long cold winter we’re looking forward to an active and fun spring/summer.

Penelope

Rescued May 11, 2011- Adopted May 16, 2011

Update Received: May 25, 2011

So I couldn’t help but send you all an update on how Penelope, or Penny as she is called now, is doing.  She has been been an amazing addition to my home.  Maverick, my other dog, has been her best friend since day one.  They do everything together and sleep together as well.  I have brought Penny into my work multiple times over the past week and she has done amazing with with the children.  I can’t believe how lucky I have been to have her in my life.  She is so smart and is so emotional that it makes me laugh on a daily basis.   She is also an expert at finding all of my lost socks :-).  Thank you again for everything you have done for my home!  And thank you for bringing Penny into my life!
