TAKE NOTICE!!!

Attention potential adopters!!! Being that it's summer time, several of our volunteers are on vacation and we are SUPER SWAMPED at the rescue. This being said - it could take a week to get back to you on any communications. We're trying as hard as we can to keep up with things, but please remember we are a completely non-profit volunteer run organization. None of us are paid and we all have other 'real' jobs, families and other obligations.

If you would like to help us out - we desperately need more volunteers willing to help with the adoption and rescue process. We're in need of position coordinators and volunteers able to help with application screenings. Please email us or call us if you are interested in helping out! Dog of the Month

August's dog of the month is Raleigh! He's a sweet good 'ol boy. He just wants to be by your side and get some loving affection! He's only 2 years old - but those two years have been pretty rough from him. We're looking for the best-of-the-best for Raleigh since up to this point humans have been nothing but nasty to him. He's been shot, hit by a car, abused and neglected him. He just wants a friend!

Update from the foster: Raleigh has proved to be a resilient young dog. His true personality is really shining through as the loyal, playful, loving guy that he is. He is a super good buddy to the other dogs at his foster home just hanging out, playing, wrestling and exploring. He is both house and crate trained! Raleigh's unique blend of breeds shows as he is an active guy who runs at mach speed but also enjoys relaxing with a his squeaky toys and, of course cuddling up with his people for lots of affectionate rubs and loves. His tail is in full swing and is ready to meet and greet his new family. Raleigh is a wonderful dog and has made huge progress in the short time that he has been with us! I can only imagine how great he'll be after he finds a loving forever family to call his own!

Please don't breed or buy while shelter pets die!

Everyday 10,000 humans are born in the U.S. and each day 70,000 puppies and kittens are also born. As long as these birth rates exist, there will never be enough homes for all the animals. As a result, millions of healthy, loving cats, dogs, kittens, and puppies face early deaths as a form of animal control. Others are left to fend for themselves against automobiles, the elements, other animals, and cruel humans. You can help just by spaying and neutering your pets, don't ever buy from a pet store, as almost every one of them uses some form of a puppy mill, and remind people to adopt from a shelter or a rescue. Thank you!

Our Mission:

We are dedicated to finding and saving neglected and unwanted labs and lab mixes from rural areas, as well as local areas, and find them wonderful, loving homes to thrive in. We also strive to teach the general public to spay and neuter their pets to help control the pet overpopulation problem.

Who We're Saving

Dogs in Our Lives

We aren't house-proud. If we were we wouldn't abide the scratches on the doorframe, the holes in the screen, the darkened shine of worn spots on the chair. We would wince at the mottled carpet and fret at hair clinging to our clothes.

We don't. If anything, we lovers of a dog are a tolerant lot, finding greater value in the unabashed affection of our friend than immaculate sofas. Shoes can be replaced, but loyal labradors are timeless.

Without our dogs our houses are cold receptacles for things. Dogs make a fire warmer with their curled presence. They wake us, greet us, protect us, and ultimately carve a place in our hearts and our history. Our reflection, our lives are often referenced in parts defined by the all-too-short-lives of our dogs.
