Note: If you are interested in adopting a lab you must first submit an Adoption Application to Rocky Mountain Lab Rescue. The process of reviewing applications may take two or three days. A phone interview and home visit must also take pace before an adoption is completed. If you have specific questions about a particular dog, please submit your application for adoption and we will be happy to discuss which dog(s) you are interested in then. We can not guarantee that the dog that you are interested in will still be available after your application has been reviewed and processed.

Our guy Ridley is privileged to be mixed with the #1 smartest breed. Always decked out in Black and White this smart guy knows he is more than just another handsome face. True to his mix Border Collies are known for their amazing agility, Ridley is no exception commenting "four foot fences, that's kids play". In order to keep this agile guy safe his forever home would need six foot fences. Full of energy this sweet, friendly, fun lovin' boy would make an excellent running companion or candidate for agility training. These dogs live to work and are known for their high energy, speed and obedience. He would love a forever family that understands he just needs to work by their side, whether it is herding or competing in sport such as fly ball and disc games. This lovable, handsome, intelligent, athletic boy is the perfect blend of lovable Lab and brilliant Border Collie looking for just the right family to help him reach his potential!

Lucy is a special girl who needs another special girl to help her. She is extremely frightened by all men. She is even weary of women until she gets to know them. She was surrendered to a shelter in GA for breaking out of her yard and then lived with a family that didn't have the amount of time to work with her that she needed. We imagine that in her lifetime she was abused. She is unsure of all noises and is weary of all people. She does like kids a lot! She seems to trust kids and other submissive dogs. Once you get to know this girl she is one of the sweetest dogs you'll ever meet. She will literally attach herself to you and love you with all she knows. She would benefit from some careful socialization classes and private training where she could learn to trust all humans. It is unlikely that she will ever completely trust everyone, but she can improve. She is great in her crate as she feels very safe there and is fully housebroken. She needs a single woman that has the time to give her to help her overcome her fears. She has been an escape artist in the past and will need careful supervision outside. |

With the bounce in his step and his non stop tail wag, Buster is happy fella. Since coming to RMLR he is completely house trained, has learned the stairs and goes to his kennel on his own. Is currently learning the leash, but that is a snap for this smart guy. Buster is friendly and outgoing, loves everybody and everybody loves him he is irresistable. He plays for hours and hours with his fur buddies, playing tag, tug of war and fence guarding. When it is time to rest he chills nicely and if a lap is available will crawl on it and do the sweetest snuggle that you have ever been privy to, it is totally amazing. If you are looking for a young fella that will give you unending love till the end of time this is your guy. |

From the foster mom: The best words to describe him are "huge teddybear". He is sooo wonderfully sweet and loving and very mellow. He likes to play with our dog that's about 1/3 his size, but he's so careful with him, like he realizes the size difference. He's not interested in toys or chewing on anything, but he LOVES to sit as close as possible to people (any size/age is fine) to get head rubs and give BIG kisses and leaning hugs. He's incredibly gentle and patient with my 6- and 8-year-old children as well. |

Rillo is a very energetic two year old vanilla lab. With a clean bill of health Rillo is looking for a strong patient dog savvy family who is willing to continue working on refining his manners. Rillo doesn't require long walks or trips to the dog park but would do great with a little bit of land so he can freely tromp about, run and explore. He enjoys a game of fetch but at times lets his curiosity take over leading him to check out new sights and smells. Rillo is accustom to being top dog and won't have it any other way. While he would accept the right female canine companion, males are not really an option for this macho man. He also insists on dining alone! Rillo is a big fan of stuffed toys and often is seen meandering about with his favorite stuffed duck clenched securely in his mouth. Rillo is wonderful with people and like all dogs enjoys leaning in for belly and ear rubs.This diamond in the ruff will be a beautiful addition to a family willing to continue training him to is full potential and realize the joys of what it means to be a family dog! |

Rillo was rescued from a shelter. He was heartworm positive when he came to RMLR and has compeleted the treatment for that. Other than that, he is happy healthy and looking for his forever family.

Behind those scruffy brown ears is a ladies man with a heart of gold. Trance is an undemanding little fella! He doesn't ask for much but is willing to offer a lifetime of loyalty, companionship and love. This smart guy knows how to "sit", "shake" and "speak" on command. He is fully house trained, gets along well with other dogs and is just an all around easy going guy! He may take a minute to warm up due to the fact that not all humans have been kind to him, but with as big of heart as Trance has he finds the attention irresistible. This appreciative little fella deserves to be doted on like a king but would settle for a loving family to call his own.
Trance came to us with fur missing on his tail and a coat in very poor condition. He was about to get euthanized until we stepped up for him. With a decent diet and some added fish oil, his coat has really started to fill in and begin to shine again! Trance loves any attention that you will give him and is more than happy to hang around for extra rubs! Like any dog, he wants to be the apple of your eye!! He gets along well with other dogs and loves to run around and compete for a ball. He knows sit, speak, down and shake and unfortunately someone took out his voice box leaving him a little hoarse and squeaky sounding. We just found out that he has some hip dysplasia, but right now the doctor is only recommending he be on Rimadyl. He would love to find someone that will just let him be their companion and hang out by their side while they give him head rubs. Right now, we would probably recommend a home that isn't super active so that his hips can have a rest. We will keep updating his bio as we learn more!!

SHE LOVES ATTENTION AND HER TOYS!!! I think that she would chase her toys all day or at least carry them around with her!! She does think that she shouldn't have to share with any other dog (people she will happily share with!) so if there is another dog in the household you would need to make sure that wouldn't be a problem!! Her foster home has a long flight of stairs, so Minty just stays on the main level which hasn't been a problem. She needs a bit of enticing to go in her crate, but once there she is quiet!! Minty will make a wonderful family dog for anyone!! She has chased the cats a bit at her foster home so a home without cats might be less stressful for everyone.

Minty just came to us from a vet in Hays, KS. She has had a rough go at life so far, but is ready to turn that around!! She was neglected by her original owner and ended up at the vet's office where they discovered she was heartworm positive and then had an infection in her leg that resulted in it being removed. She has been treated for the heartworms and is learning what life is like with three legs instead of four. She seems to be doing just fine and if you judged by her personality you would think that she had just won the lottery!!!

The nicks on his nose, skinny body and a cough tell of a not so fairy tale life as a vagabond in Nebraska. When he arrived it took only an instant for Twix's foster mom to fall for those soft brown eyes and take him straight to the Vet where he was diagnosed with Kennel Cough. Even with a slight fever, snotty nose and dry dirty coat Twix showed his appreciation with constant tail wags and gently resting his big block head graciously on his foster mom's lap. Despite being sick Twix is still just a big playful puppy who enjoys playing with toys, tennis balls and twigs. Twix is a big boy with a sweet cuddly disposition! He gets along great with other dogs, both male and female. He is truly grateful for finding his way here to Colorado where he hopes to soon be united with his forever family!
At this point Twix is still contagious and is looking for a forever family who is willing to help him recover from his Kennel Cough. Until that time the volunteers here at RMLR are determined to fatten Twix up and have him healthy, happy and handsome in no time! |
